visualization FTW

The Times has a really terrific visualization of the change in voting patterns from 2004. If you want to understand what happened last night, politically, going through this data seems like a critical place to start.

Do you think the data on slide#13, that it was a fairly large increase in black and hispanic votes for the democrats (+19 and +27%) that won the state, supports the idea that Kerry would have won had Florida not been preventing people from voting? Badly worded, but I’m sure you know what I mean.

I should probably look to see what the difference in numbers is between how many voted in both elections.

  2. It is very hard to extrapolate from this year’s numbers on minorities to past years (for blacks, for the obvious reason, and for hispanics, because of the immigration discussion.)
