Does ‘click here for the rest’ actually work in my blog and/or my feeds?
does this actually work?

(yes, this does imply that I have a 5,000 word blog post in the works.)

(no, not kidding.)

It does work, but I’m not sure it’s a good idea, people see feeds to avoid spending time web browsing and if you make them come to the page to read the content, well, you get what I mean.

Please check out this post which explains why we should publish full rss feeds http://blog.webreakstuff.com/2005/12/post-full-feeds-please/

  4. Diogo: oh, I agree that full-feeds are ideal; and I think in fact that even in this case I’m actually going to break the post into several 1K-word posts instead of 1 gigantic 5K word post, rather than using ‘more’. But this is one of those posts which lots of people are going to want to ignore, and the people that do want to read it are not going to be deterred by a single link-click, so I don’t feel too badly using ‘more’, given the size of the post.

  5. Actually quite some people were complaining on ML and on its Trac, but Automattic people say it is intended behavior, so game over. Thus people come up with plugins to do that.

my reader has a browser library built in- so if i do want (more), i’ll click it. i’ll probably want (more), so go ahead hit me with the big 5K.
