former classmate wins a Genius Grant

I can’t exactly say I knew him well (hardly at all) but the other Luis in a lot of my CS classes at Duke, Luis von Ahn, won a MacArthur genius grant. He’s the dude who co-invented the captcha and more recently the predecessor to Google’s Image Game. Very cool for him, and nice for Duke.

So now I’ve gone to high school with a Rhodes and college with a MacArthur. Wonder what Columbia will turn up :)

    We have had two presidents, I believe, and a slew of Supreme Court justices. Oh, and I guess we gave honorary JDs to at least one Nobel Peace Prize winner, so… yeah, maybe another Nobel isn’t so far-fetched. :)
