I was skimming planet maemo this evening (the new software looks sexy, and I think the hardware may fill a role in my life, though sadly I did not avail myself of one of the developer units) when lo and behold, who is mentioned but… bowie j. poag. Wow. Blast from the past. For those of you yung’uns who don’t know who bowie poag was… well, count your blessings. He was perhaps the greatest of the GNOME trolls (inspiring this classic jfleck email), and was memorialized in the Bowie Poag timeline. Anyway… for you yunguns, consider this a history lesson; for you maemo folks, well, my advice to you is to read the timeline and know your history :)
(Bowie was also the author of the very cool propaganda background tiles, which he seems to have resurrected, incredibly. This was state of the background art in 1997, let me tell you- and honestly, still pretty damn cool. If he’d only stuck to doing backgrounds and pretending he was JFK, everything would have been OK.)
